Prithviraj III Chauhan was a legendary King of Delhi and Ajmer who decisively defeated the Sultan Muhammad of Ghor in 1191, only to be defeated and killed himself in the following year by Muslim invaders. Prithviraj's fame as a warrior hero of the Rajputs lives on in the epic poem Prithviraj Raso composed by Chand Bardai in the 13th or 14th century.
